Step-by-step guide on how to clean your dog's ears

For this, we are using a cleanser that we have. Every bottle can look a little different, so the nozzle might be different.
Lift the affected ear, take the nozzle of the container, and put it down into the ear canal, which should be in a direction going towards the nose. Then you're going to squeeze the bottle.
Once you take the bottle out, you're going to rub just under and slightly in front of the ear. It's important to rub under and slightly in front of the ear because this will work the solution into the horizontal canal, dogs and cats have ear canals that are shaped like an L. This allows us to work the medication, or the cleanser, into that horizontal canal of the ear, so that it's bringing all the debris up to the surface.
After you have massaged the ear with the solution in it, take either a cotton ball, tissue, toilet paper, or something soft and absorbent to wipe any debris that has come into view.
(I'm going to put my finger down in there, wipe it up, and as you can see, we're getting some brown gunk out of there.)
You're going to keep wiping it a few times. Sometimes, depending on the severity of how dirty the ear is, you do need to go back in with cleanser one or two more times, just so that you are getting everything out of the ear. Once you are wiping, and it starts to come out clean, then that's how you know that you are finished!
